France Telecom's Orange has finally resolved its differences with Apple and will become the sole provider of the iPhone in France in time for the pre-Christmas run-up. Orange is the third European mobile operator to commit to Apple's new smartphone. It will launch the 8GB edition on 29 November for EUR399 (USD565), having successfully negotiated its way around a pithy contractual problem relating to the distribution deal. The pair had been at loggerheads over the proportion of revenues each would receive under the agreement, with Orange said to be unhappy over the amount it is being asked to relinquish under the deal. The announcement that the deal has not turned sour confirms what FT chief executive officer Didier Lombard said back in September, which was that the iPhone would become available before Christmas.
